Meet Sam Harshner
I’m a teacher, veteran public servant, and proud father of two amazing Atwater Elementary students. My family and I have lived in Shorewood for the past decade, and we love it because it’s a community that embodies the values we live by: compassion, civic-mindedness, and openness to the world around us. The same values I aim to instill in my two children and the same values that animate my work as an academic, political organizer, labor activist, and democratic socialist. I am eager to put my experience to work in service of you and our community.
I’m running for public office because this is a fraught time for democracy in Wisconsin. I firmly believe that the only way to restore our democratic norms and institutions is by deepening democracy where we live. We all need to be a part of this fight and that begins with inclusive community dialogue. I want to hear from you. I believe I have the experience and commitment to serve as your village trustee, but Shorewood’s government only works if it’s acting on behalf of the people who live, work and play here.
In that spirit, I encourage you to let me know what you want and need from your local government. I look forward to talking with you.
